Pleasant Design

Many gaming consoles are functional rather than aesthetic items.  Although designers are employed to make the designs appear sleek, futuristic and hi-tech, these attributes may appeal more to existing customers than noncustomers.  The use of black and silver play to an essentially male buyer/user market. 

•   At level 1 the console is manufactured in white - a more gender-neutral color. 

•   At level 2, the console has rounded edges and a silky smooth exterior. 

•   At level 3, the console is available decorated with favorite cartoon characters, movie stars or singers. 

•   At level 4 the console is designed and decorated using well-known designers (eg Kath Kidstone). 

•   At level 5, the console ‘disappears’ completely – like a book on a bookshelf.
