Graphics Sophistication

This competing factor relates to the quality of the images and graphics rendered by the game console.

Levels 1 to 3 involve increasing definition of images and increased colors and the way that movements are rendered to seem smooth and realistic.  Level 1 is quite limited in terms of rendering realistic colors and some images can appear ‘pixilated’.  Level 2 is Standard Definition (for most standard flat screen, LCD and plasma televisions and computer monitors). Level 3 is somewhere between Standard Definition and the current HD standard.

Level 4 is the average for the industry.  It offers the current HD (high definition) specification familiar to television buyers - in terms of number of pixels and colors.

Level 5 for this competing factor involves headsets which may project images onto the retina creating a virtual reality environment where the person feels that they are ‘in’ the game.
